A Chinese firm has began the construction of a major power transmission line project within Ethiopia. The firm China Electric Power Equipment and Technology (CET) announced Monday that it had officially commenced the construction of the Ethiopia-Kenya power transmission line Expected to cost USD1.26 billion the Ethiopia-Kenya power transmission line is financed by the African Development Bank. It runs about 1,045km, of which 445km is within Ethiopia’s territory and the rest in Kenya. The 500 KV transmission line will have the transmitting capacity of 2,000 MW.
The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) now called upon involvement in the upcoming Uganda and Tanzania oil Pipeline that will be constructed to specifically transport Crude Oil from Uganda’s Kabale to Tanzania’s Tanga Port. According to the countries Minister for Energy and Minerals, Prof Sospeter Muhongo they are keenly looking into investing into the project. Speaking during a one-day meeting of ministerial Permanent Secretaries and Regional Commissioners from regions the minister said that Congo now wants to discuss with the involved parties so that they can get a green light be connected to Uganda and Tanzania oil Pipeline.
Tanzania’s President John Magufuli recently announced a grand water distribution project in five districts found in the Tabora Region, saying his government had already sourced for US$268.4 million that will go towards implementing the project in Tabora. The president was addressing residents of Ziba and Nanga villages when his motorcade made a stopover before addressing a rally in Igunga and Nzega districts. According to the president, the government had already finished carrying out feasibility study in preparation for the implementation of the grand water distribution project in Tabora.
A business park is set to be constructed alongside Garden City mall in Kenya’s capital Nairobi its developers have announced. The owners of the property dubbed The Garden City Business Park (GCBP) have proposed to divide the land into 10 plots and develop offices on two of them and further lease out the rest for predetermined use. It is planned to occupy 23.5 acres of land along Thika Road and will encompass unique facilities like business hotels, a hospital and offices.
